Q. The "click" - "bonk" sound that IE5 makes every time I click on a link is getting to me. How do I turn it off?
A. Easy enough. Simply go to the Control Panel and double click on the Sounds and Multimedia icon.
In some versions of Windows, it is just called "Sounds."
Here you will find all the system events to which Windows assigns sounds, and you can change them or
turn them off completely.
Find the section Windows Explorer and look for Start Navigation. This is the sound you want to
change or turn off to get rid of that clicking sound.
While you are here you can also turn off the annoying sounds your system makes when it boots up and
shuts down.
